the morning benders

I remember when I was eleven or twelve years old and I would go on these boy scout trips with a couple of my nerdier friends (come on it’s boy scouts). There was always this one kid’s dad who would drive us and he insisted on only listening to the oldies radio station. I always hated it. I was listening to stuff like Nirvana and Silverchair, not this mellow nonsense that felt like it was rocking me to sleep.

Well needless to say I’ve matured a little bit. Not a whole lot, but enough to be able to put my mind in the slow lane every once and awhile and savor some pretty poignant and poetic music. The song “Excuses” is the first tune I’ve heard by The Morning Benders, but from the sounds of everybody else in the blogosphere they’re a pretty classic act, and their new release, “Big Echo” is supposed to be all time. Plus this dude’s voice is pretty iconic.

The icing on the cake of this post has got to be this video, showing an in studio performance of “Excuses.” Yes.
